Project One

Project One is a community-driven initiative dedicated to transforming rural education and empowering young minds to become confident leaders, critical thinkers, and changemakers in their communities.

Inspired by the ethical and humanitarian principles of Twelver values, Project One aims to build sustainable learning ecosystems that combine quality education, leadership development, and community participation. The initiative focuses on creating opportunities for rural youth who often face limited access to educational resources and guidance.

Our mission is to ensure that every child, regardless of their background or location, has access to meaningful education that nurtures knowledge, character, and purpose. Through innovative programs and community partnerships, Project One seeks to bridge the educational gap between rural and urban regions.

We believe that rural communities hold immense potential. However, many students struggle due to a lack of qualified teachers, limited resources, and fewer opportunities for advanced learning. Project One addresses these challenges by developing a three-tier educational ecosystem designed to support students from foundational learning to leadership development.

The journey begins with Foundation Schools, where students receive strong primary education, mentorship, and essential skills such as literacy, numeracy, and critical thinking. From there, talented students move to Innovation Hubs, where they gain exposure to science, technology, arts, entrepreneurship, and project-based learning.

At the highest level, the Leadership Academy prepares exceptional students for higher education and future leadership roles. Through intensive academic preparation, leadership training, and global exposure, students develop the capacity to lead positive change in society. Graduates are encouraged to return to their communities as mentors, educators, and role models.

Project One follows a continuous cycle of development: Discover, Develop, Lead, and Return. Students first discover their abilities, then develop their skills through mentorship and education, learn to lead with responsibility, and finally return to uplift their communities.

Over the next five years, Project One aims to reach 10,000 students, establish 50+ educational centers, train 500 community educators and leaders, and support the transformation of 100 rural communities through sustainable education programs.

This initiative is a collaborative effort between Literacy International (LI) and Voyage Educare Foundation (VEF), working together to reimagine rural education in India as a platform for leadership, innovation, and long-term community development.

At its core, Project One believes that education is not simply about transferring knowledge—it is about igniting curiosity, building character, and empowering individuals to shape a better future for themselves and their communities.

Every child deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and lead.
